Principal's Message

Tigers, welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year!  As the new principal of Castor High School, I am so excited to start this new journey with you.  The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time for students, parents, faculty, and staff.  As we approach the 2020-2021 school year, there is an anxious anticipation of what this school year will hold.  Schools are fundamental to the development and well-being of our children. Schools provide students with academic instruction, safety, social and emotional skills, reliable nutrition, and opportunities for physical activity.  The benefits students receive by being in school are immeasurable.  We at CHS recognize those truths, while at the same time we realize that we have to balance those ideals with the health and safety of our students.

The first priority of the Bienville Parish School Board is the safety of the students, faculty and staff.  Castor High is committed to that as well. On our campus, we plan to take the guidelines and instructions given to us by the parish and implement them so that teaching and learning can occur in a productive, yet safe environment.

Although the 2020-2021school year will most likely be different than any other school year we have experienced, we will adopt the same mentality that we have encouraged all Tigers to have over the years. This is the philosophy that we should rise to face challenges and grow from them. Some of the educational practices we employ this year will help us grow, and we will keep those. Others, we will tolerate until we can have normalcy, and we will hopefully leave those behind when it is time to move forward in a more traditional fashion. One thing is certain, and that is in order for our year to be successful, we must all work together.  Students, parents, faculty, staff, and our community must band together and be willing to do what is best for our students.  On this campus, we have learned that together we can find the way forward.

Finally, I would like to welcome our new employees, Chekelah Weaver, Rachel Mathews, Rebecca Mathews, and Ethan Squires. We are excited to have them join our Tiger team, one that consists of an amazing group of students, faculty, staff, and parents/guardians, and a very supportive Castor community.

Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger,

Joy-Dee Wallace
